Archpriest Michael Fortounatto has been received among the clergy of the Archdiocese

At his request, Archpriest Michael Fortounatto has been received among the clergy of the Archdiocese of Orthodox Parishes of Russian Tradition in Western Europe, by a decree of His Eminence Archbishop Gabriel dated 27 June 2006.

Fr Michael Fourtounatto, now aged 73, is a graduate of the St-Serge Institute of Theology, Paris. He served as a priest for many years in Great Britain, alongside Metropolitan Anthony of blessed memory, most notably as choirmaster and then Dean of the Cathedral of the Dormition and All Saints, Ennismore Gardens, London.

In 2004 he retired for reasons of health, and the following year took up residence near Vichy.

A specialist in liturgical chant, and author of many arrangements of music in the tradition of the Moscow school of music, he has taught many courses in different countries in Western Europe as well as in Russia.

He was one of three speakers at the latest conference of the Archdiocese, on 25 May last, where he gave a presentation on ’The Spiritual and Theological Meaning of Repentance.’
